The Minnesota Vikings ' 2025 NFL Draft was an effort entirely made toward getting J.J. McCarthy as much help as possible entering his first season as a starter.

Minnesota completed its overhaul of the offensive interior line, drafting Ohio State guard Donovan Jackson 24th overall in the first round.

After a long wait into the final picks of the third round, the Vikings also added another weapon on offense for McCarthy, Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton.

A wirey receiver at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Felton made an electric statement following his selection at No. 102 overall.

Shortly after he was picked on Friday, April 25, Felton posted a three-word message on X: "Minnesotaaaa Les workkk💜."

Felton's message echoed a sentiment he told Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O'Connell; that he's "ready to go to work."

A three-star recruit coming out of high school, Felton was a late-bloomer for the Terps. As a senior, Felton was named team MVP after leading the Big Ten in catches (8.0) and receiving yards (93.7) per game. He also broke DJ Moore’s single-season Maryland record for catches, snaring 96 receptions last season.

Felton ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and has elite jumping ability at the receiver position. His slight frame and play strength are his biggest weaknesses entering the league, however, he possesses a different skillset from Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison that could see him assume a starting role in the slot.

"[Felton] can avoid contact with his quick feet, but his mediocre play strength stands out and hurts his ability to play through contact mid-route and at the catch point," The Athletic's Dan Brugler wrote . "Overall, Felton has the explosive speed to be a weapon in the quick game and downfield, which gives him NFL starting potential as a Z receiver. His special teams experience will only boost his chances of cementing a spot on an NFL depth chart."
