The NFL's new league year arrived Wednesday, March 12 at 4 p.m. ET. With it came the usual flurry of free-agent signings and trades that often accompany the first wave of the NFL offseason. Plenty of big names were already off the board thanks to handshake deals made during the
NFL's legal tampering period . Many of those were finally put to paper on Wednesday, while new deals were also announced. There was also an influx in player releases, as NFL teams had to be cap-compliant by the 4 p.m. ET deadline. Teams were also allowed to designate players
as post-June 1 cuts as of the new league year, so that sent
Aaron Rodgers onto the free agent market. Rodgers is among the biggest names still available on the free-agent market, and his decision could influence where
Russell Wilson ends up. Elsewhere,
Cooper Kupp is now a free agent and will join a couple of other veteran receivers –
Amari Cooper and
Stefon Diggs – looking for new homes. The market for defensive players has moved a bit faster. Numerous cornerbacks and safeties like
D.J. Reed ,
Charvarius Ward ,
Jevon Holland and
Talanoa Hufanga have already inked new deals. The same can be said of veteran pass rushers

Khalil Mack and

The Vikings and 49ers have been two of the busiest teams since the start of the new league year. Now, they have agreed to a deal with one another with the 49ers trading running back Jordan Mason to Minnesota. Mason, 25, had a career-high 789 rushing yards on 153 attempts with three touchdowns in six starts while Christian McCaffrey was out. The Vikings pair Mason with veteran Aaron Jones in the backfield. Mason has agreed to a two-year deal with over $7 million guaranteed with a max value of $12 million. The 49ers receive a 2026 sixth-round pick in the trade and swap picks with the Vikings in this year's draft. San Francisco will receive pick No. 160 and Minnesota will receive pick No. 187.
Smith-Schuster, who originally played for the Chiefs in 2022, re-joined the team last year for a second stint after one year with the Patriots in 2023. The 28-year-old had 18 catches for 231 yards and two touchdowns in 2024 and will remain in Kansas City for his ninth season.
Tennessee is releasing Awuzie after the first season of the three-year deal he signed last offseason. He appeared in eight games (seven starts) for the Titans and tallied 26 tackles, four pass defenses and an interception.
Campbell will play for a different NFC East team for a third straight year. In 2023, he signed a one-year deal with the Giants before joining the Eagles ahead of the 2024 season. In five games with Philadelphia, he recorded six catches for 30 yards and had one touchdown.
After signing a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons last year, Cousins was benched for the final three games of the 2024 season in favor of first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. As a result, many in the industry wondered if the Falcons planned to cut or trade the 36-year-old veteran this offseason. If they kept Cousins through a 4 p.m. ET deadline on March 15, they'd owe him a $10 million roster bonus in 2026. Though the team appears set to roll with Penix as the starter into the 2025 season, ESPN's report indicates that Atlanta will keep Cousins on the roster through the deadline and pay him that $10 million roster bonus. The move allows the Falcons to avoid "rush[ing] any decision on Cousins’ future, be it staying on the team, being traded or an eventual release," Schefter wrote.
Washington is re-signing the former first-round pick after a season in which he played 14 games (10 starts) with 26 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
Four days after the 49ers released the fullback, the two sides agreed to terms on a new, two-year, $8 million deal. Juszczyk will retain his title as longest-tenured 49er as he returns to the team for his ninth season in San Francisco.
Coming off of the best year of his career, the former Jet and Eagle cashed in with a two-year, $20 million deal. He moves coast-to-coast to protect quarterback Justin Herbert in Los Angeles alongside Rashawn Slater and Zion Johnson.
The 2021 Offensive Player of the Year signed a three-year, $45 million deal with Seattle Friday evening. He'll join new Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and incumbent receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the team's overhauled offense.
Fox, who is coming off of a 27-tackle, 3.5-sack season, is signing a two-year deal with the Falcons that could be worth more than $8.5 million. Atlanta will be Fox's fourth team as he enters the ninth year of his pro career.
Ledbetter is set to join the Giants after three seasons in Jacksonville. The two sides agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.775 million deal that could be worth more than $2 million with incentives, per reports. Ledbetter had career highs in sacks (2.0) and tackles (38) in 15 games last season.
According to Rapoport, Cincinnati has made "significant progress on massive contract extensions" with both Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase. Extensions for both of the Bengals' star receivers could be signed and announced within the next few days. Chase would be entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025, and Higgins is set to play on the franchise tag if no deal is reached.
Hours after reports that the Eagles were open to trade talks for tight end Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia has signed another tight end to its roster. It's a one-year deal for Granson, who started 17 games in four years with the Colts, tallying 86 catches for 958 yards and a touchdown.
Licht himself broke the news that his team had agreed to terms to keep Shepard in Tampa on a one-year deal. The former Giant joined the Bucs last year and appeared in 14 games (five starts) with 32 catches for 334 yards and a touchdown.
Herbig missed the entire 2024 season with a torn rotator cuff, but he's set to compete for a role on the Commanders' offensive line. The five-year NFL veteran has made 30 career starts in 61 games. One of the top edge rushers still on the market is off of the board. Fowler is joining the Cowboys on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. USA TODAY Sports previously listed Fowler as the 11th-best
free agent still available after his 10.5-sack season with Washington in 2024. Epps is joining the fourth team of his career in his seventh NFL season. After missing almost all of the 2024 season with a torn ACL, the veteran safety is joining New England after two years with the Raiders. Epps tallied 85 tackles, three pass defenses and a forced fumble in 20 games with Las Vegas.
The six-year veteran and former first-round pick is joining the Chiefs on a one-year deal after spending the 2024 season in Minnesota. Tillery played in all 17 games last year – starting 11 – and tallied 28 tackles, two pass deflections and a forced fumble.
Hunt re-joined Kansas City for a second stint a few weeks into last season after running back Isiah Pacheco's leg injury in Week 2. He's staying with the Chiefs for one more year on a $1.5 million deal that could be worth up to $2.5 million. He joins fellow free agent signee and running back Elijah Mitchell in Kansas City's revamped backfield.
Philadelphia has "been open to trade talks" with their starting tight end and rotational edge rusher. Goedert is entering the final year of the four-year, $57 million contract extension he signed in 2021, and Huff still has two more years on the three-year, $51.1 million deal he signed last offseason. With the 2025 NFL draft class featuring plenty of talent at the tight end position and the Eagles' deep group of pass-rushers, there's a chance general manager Howie Roseman recoups some draft pick value with trades.
Jackson spent the first four seasons of his career with Buffalo after the team drafted him in the seventh round in 2020. Last offseason, he signed a two-year deal with Carolina and played in nine games (three starts). He recorded 23 tackles and two pass defenses in 2024 before the team released him in late February.
Five years after Wilson initially left Minnesota as a free agent, the linebacker is returning to the team that first signed him. He spent the 2021 season with the Eagles and Texans before playing for the Packers for the last three years, tallying 120 tackles and three sacks in that span.
The nine-year veteran is moving across the division after spending the last two season with the
Jets . Schweitzer has started 62 games in his career but just two have come in the last two seasons. He played in four games (zero starts) for the Jets last year.
Miami is bringing in extra help for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Brown, who is predominantly a blocking tight end, played in 15 games (seven starts) with the Seahawks last year, where he caught eight passes for 65 yards. Throughout his seven-year career, he's split time between offense and special teams.
Jenkins, a former second-round pick, struggled in his first year as a pro playing tackle. Since moving inside to guard in his second season, he's played much better and established himself as one of the league's best at the position. He'll meet with Seattle on Monday as the team builds up its offensive line for new starting quarterback Sam Darnold.
Patrick missed the entirety of the 2022 season then the entirety of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles. After beginning last season on the Lions' practice squad, the team signed him to the active roster just a couple of weeks into the season. He was a significant contributor to the Lions' passing offense with 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns. The details of Patrick's new deal have not yet been announced.
Zappe started last season as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad. In late October, the Browns signed him to their active roster in the wake of quarterback Deshaun Watson's Achilles tear. Zappe started in Cleveland's Week 18 game against the Ravens, where he threw for 170 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions with a 51.6% completion rate. He now returns to the Chiefs on a one-year deal.
Moore, who missed the entirety of the 2024 season after suffering a knee injury in training camp, is in Minnesota Friday. The former Cardinal accumulated 135 catches for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns during his time in Arizona.
While the Cowboys have made a "push" to get Kupp, they still aren't considered the most likely landing spot for the veteran receiver, per Schefter. He did not elaborate on which teams are favored to sign Kupp. The Cowboys have not signed an external free agent for a deal worth more than $6.1 million in average annual value since Greg Hardy ($11.3 million) in 2015.
The Rams released Kupp at the start of the league year on Wednesday but the veteran isn't expected to last long on the free-agent market. Dallas is in the market for a No. 2 receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb and has emerged as "a sleeper team" to watch in the Kupp sweepstakes. Schefter reports Kupp could make a decision as soon as Friday. If he signs with the Cowboys, he would represent one of the team's biggest external free agent signings of the last decade.
The Lions have agreed to terms with Allen, securing some insurance behind Jared Goff next season. Allen has started 19 games during his seven-year career, which began with the Carolina Panthers in 2018.
After backing up Justin Herbert in 2024, Heinicke is back for more in 2025. The Chargers re-signed the quarterback to a one-year deal worth $6.2 million.
Chicago won't stop utilizing its financial freedom, this time inking Jackson to a one-year extension. The Bears acquired the guard from the Rams ahead of free agency and will now have him under contract through 2027.
The versatile Eichenberg is back with the Dolphins for another year. A second-round pick in 2021, the offensive lineman has started 52 games over the last four seasons.
The Bears are continuing their offseason remodel by securing Zaccheaus' services for 2025. He spent the 2024 season with the Commanders and played in all 17 regular-season games, totaling 506 yards and three touchdowns for Washington.
The Giants are determined to find a quarterback capable of winning games next season and they are leaving no stone unturned in the veteran market. They met with Flacco today and will host Wilson on Friday, while awaiting an answer from Aaron Rodgers.
The former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars had a career year with Las Vegas last season with 32 tackles, five sacks and one interception, all career-highs. He'll reportedly be staying with Las Vegas to shore up the edge rusher rotation for one more year on a $5 million deal.
Kansas City will have another former starting quarterback as their backup to Patrick Mahomes next season. Minshew started 13 games for the Colts in 2023 and went 7-6 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. The Las Vegas Raiders signed him in the 2024 offseason and he started nine games for them, going 2-7. He now stays in the division by heading to Kansas City. The Chiefs will be the fifth team he's played for in the NFL after the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Colts and Raiders.
The former first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft is staying with the Commanders in 2025 after a career-best year with Washington last season. Igbinoghene played in all 17 games last season and set career-highs in tackles (55) and passes defensed (seven).
For the third time in four years, the Eagles are signing an important former Giant away from New York during free agency. Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman poached cornerback James Bradberry after the Giants released him in 2022, then did the same with running back Saquon Barkley last March. This year, he and the Eagles have signed Jackson to a contract after he played in 14 games (including five starts) for the Giants in 2024. Details of the contract have not yet been reported.
The Raiders signed former Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert in free agency. He will now trade places with Mattison, who is heading from Las Vegas to Miami. Mattison had 420 yards and four touchdowns on 132 carries for the Raiders last season. He averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry but will only be entering his age-27 season in 2025.
The Texans continue to revamp their offensive line. They moved on from three starters from last season and are now acquiring Ingram, who was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Vikings. Ingram appeared in 48 games over his three seasons with the Vikings, making 41 starts at right guard. He graded 66th among 77 qualified guards last season, per Pro Football Focus. The Texans are sending a 2026 sixth-round pick for Ingram, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Smartt posted a career-high 16 catches for 208 yards for the Chargers in 2024. They didn't tender him as a restricted free agent, but the Jets quickly scooped him up. The Old Dominion product joins Jeremy Ruckert as the only two tight ends on New York's roster.
The Chargers are adding some beef on the defensive line, agreeing to terms with Hand and Jones for next season. Hand was a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft and has developed into a solid rotational lineman. The 6-3, 302-pound lineman had 31 tackles and one sack for the Dolphins last season. Jones (6-3, 313 pounds) had 27 tackles and three sacks in 12 games from the Cardinals last year. He will be tasked with helping to replace Poona Ford after he joined the Rams in free agency.
The Eagles are giving Bryant $2 million to join their tight end room. The five-year NFL veteran won the Mackey Award during his college days and has 98 catches, 877 yards and 10 touchdowns in 78 career games. He was buried on the Raiders' depth chart last year but could have a path to a backup role in Philadelphia.
Allen played last season as the 49ers' backup for quarterback Brock Purdy after spending 2023 as the third-string option behind Purdy and Sam Darnold. With his new deal, he reunites with his old offensive coordinator, Brian Callahan, whom he played with when the two were in Cincinnati. The value of the deal has not yet been announced. Allen is expected to fill a backup role behind either Will Levis or a rookie quarterback if Tennessee goes that route with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft.
Brown was a solid rotational player for the Commanders last season, catching 35 passes for 453 yards in 11 games. He caught just one touchdown, but it was one of the most important of Washington's season – the last-second Hail Mary that allowed them to beat the Bears in Week 8. Brown will give the Commanders key pass-catching depth after Dyami Brown's departure.
The Raiders were expected to upgrade their running back room during the 2025 offseason. They added a proven, veteran runner to the fold in Mostert, who initially worked with Las Vegas offensive coordinator Chip Kelly when he was with the 49ers in 2015. Mostert averaged a career-low 3.3 yards per carry with the Dolphins last season and fell to third on the team's depth chart. The Raiders will be hoping he can return to his 2023 Pro Bowl form when he ranked for 1,012 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns as Miami's starter.
Juszczyk was released by the 49ers ahead of free agency. The fullback has made the Pro Bowl in nine consecutive seasons and logged 226 total yards and three touchdowns last season while serving as a top blocker in San Francisco. Pittsburgh did not roster a traditional fullback in 2024 but has Connor Heyward on the roster at tight end. He has also operated as a fullback and H-back at times.
Miller spent the 2024 season with the Steelers and served as a rotational deep threat for them. He logged five catches for 69 yards and will reprise his role as a depth player behind DK Metcalf, George Pickens and Calvin Austin.
Osborn joined the Commanders after he was released by the Patriots last season. He appeared in just one game with Washington and failed to make a catch but the Commanders are still bringing him back on a one-year deal. Osborn had 48 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns in 2023 with the Vikings.
Yiadom is inking a three-year deal worth a base value of $9 million that can extend to $10.5 million in maximum value. He spent the 2024 season with the 49ers, totaling 46 tackles, one interception and six pass defenses in 17 games. Yiadom spent time with the Saints during the 2022 and 2023 seasons so this represents a homecoming of sorts for the 2018 third-round pick.
Rudolph spent the first six years of his career with the Steelers before joining the Titans for the 2024 season. He is now returning to Pittsburgh on a two-year deal worth up to $8 million. Rudolph posted a 1-4 record in five starts for the Titans. He completed 64% of his passes for 1,530 yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. He had an 8-4-1 record as a starter for the Steelers and will likely back up Pittsburgh's new quarterback, whether that's Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson or another option.
Uche, a former second-round pick, lands with the defending Super Bowl champions after agreeing to a one-year contract. He spent his first five seasons in New England, posting 11.5 sacks in his most productive year in 2022. He joins an Eagles defense searching for ways to fill the holes left behind by the departures of Josh Sweat and Milton Williams.
Walker and Britt are effectively changing places in free agency, as the
Buccaneers signed Walker to a one-year deal. The eight-year veteran had 68 tackles, one sack and one interception in his first year with the Dolphins. The Buccaneers will be Walker's fourth NFL team as he enters his age-30 season.
Britt had a career-best year for the Buccaneers in 2024, notching 72 tackles in 14 games. The 25-year-old will be entrusted to replace Anthony Walker Jr. alongside Jordyn Brooks.
Andrews spent 10 years with the Patriots, playing in 124 games and making 121 starts after making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He played in just four games last season due to a shoulder injury. Reiss reports the Patriots will host a retirement ceremony for Andrews if the 32-year-old decides not to continue his playing career elsewhere.
Davis was claimed off waivers by the Jets at the end of the 2024 season, and now the former first-round pick has an opportunity to stick with the team under new head coach Aaron Glenn. Davis signed a one-year deal per Fox Sports, filling out the linebacker room after the release of C.J. Mosley.
The Ravens signed Williams to a five-year, $70 million contract in 2022 free agency. He played three years in Baltimore, appearing in 32 games (30 starts) and racking up 149 tackles and five interceptions. Williams failed to record an interception in 2024 and eventually relinquished his job in the starting lineup. He was inactive for the team's final five regular season games and did not play during the postseason.
Aaron Rodgers is a free agent now, and while his market is thin, there's clearly interest. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac, the Steelers have an offer on the table for Rodgers, so it's up to the QB to decide whether or not he'll accept. Considering how Rodgers likes to long-play these situations, it may be a bit before the Steelers (and the NFL world) gets an answer.
Thielen has been a key weapon over two seasons with the Panthers, logging 151 catches, 1,629 yards and nine touchdowns in 27 games with the team. The 34-year-old is returning to Carolina for a third season, his 12th in the NFL, and will continue to serve as a top target for Bryce Young.
Tomlinson has agreed to a two-year deal to join the Cardinals who will pay him $29 million with $16 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old has played eight NFL seasons with the Giants, Vikings and Browns. He had an 11.4% pressure rate and three sacks last season.
The former first-round pick is signing with the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year deal for $7 million with $5 million guaranteed. The contract has a maximum value of $11.5 million. The 49ers notably drafted QB Trey Lance third overall in 2021 over Jones who fell to the Patriots at pick 15. Jones served as Trevor Lawrence's backup in Jacksonville in 2024 and will presumably assume that role behind Brock Purdy.
Mike Williams has agreed to return to the Chargers on a one-year contract worth $6 million. He returns to Los Angeles, who drafted him seventh overall in the 2017 draft. He played seven seasons in LA before signing with the Jets in 2024. Williams will look to rekindle his connection with Justin Herbert. He accumulated 202 receptions for 2,977 yards and 19 touchdowns in 46 games alongside Herbert.
Tampa Bay is re-signing quarterback Kyle Trask to a one-year deal worth $2.78 million. He has served as the backup in Tampa since he was drafted in the second round in 2022. He will once again be behind Baker Mayfield in 2025.
The Saints are re-signing Jordan per his social media account on X. The veteran was a first-round pick by New Orleans in the 2011 NFL draft. He logged at least 7.5 sacks for 11 straight seasons before 2024.
The Vikings are re-signing Smith to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $14 million. The veteran safety was a first-round pick by Minnesota in the 2012 NFL draft and logged 87 tackles and three interceptions during the 2024 season. Smith has made six Pro Bowls during his career and was named an All-Pro first-teamer in 2017.
The Commanders continue to bolster their defensive front after adding Javon Kinlaw and Eddie Goldman early in free agency. Wise spent the first eight years of his career with the Patriots and logged 34 sacks in 126 games.
The Titans agreed to terms with Jones on a one-year deal that will pay him up to $10 million. Jones played on the edge for the Seahawks last season, racking up 24 tackles and four sacks in 17 games (seven starts).
The Panthers released Miles Sanders while 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks is coming off a torn ACL for the second time in as many years. That led them to target Dowdle as a complement to Chuba Hubbard. Dowdle is coming off a career-best season during which he racked up 1,079 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 235 carries. His deal will be worth up to $6.25 million, per
NFL Network's Rapoport .
The Jets announced Wednesday they had released Mosley after six years with the team. The 32-year-old played just four games in 2024 due to toe and neck injuries, racking up 17 tackles in three starts. Mosley was a team captain and averaged 159 tackles per season from 2021 to 2023.
The Jets are adding depth to their interior offensive line, bringing in Myers on a one-year deal worth $3.5 million. Myers played center at Ohio State with new Jets quarterback Justin Fields. The former Packer started 56 games across four seasons in Green Bay but graded 38th among 40 qualified centers for the 2024 NFL season, per
Pro Football Focus .
Dillon missed the 2024 NFL season while battling a neck injury but is poised to return to the field with the Eagles in 2025. Dillon has 2,428 yards and 10 touchdowns on 597 carries and will serve as a short-yardage and goal-line hammer behind Saquon Barkley. Perhaps the Eagles can find a way to incorporate the 6-0, 245-pounds Dillon into their "Tush Push" play.
As one cornerback joins the Commanders, another leaves. St-Juste has a big 6-3, 200-pound frame and had 17 pass defenses in 2023. He allowed a passer rating of 107 last season but Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter will look to improve upon that as they search for a Kristian Fulton replacement.
Jones is coming off a down year during which he allowed a 146.6 passer rating but Washington is hoping he will rebound with a change of scenery. The 31-year-old had four interceptions in 2022 and will be an option to man the slot, which will allow Mikey Sainristil to remain outside, where he performed well last year.
Perryman is rejoining the Chargers on a one-year, $3.65 million deal, a person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports. Perryman had 55 tackles and a sack in 11 games for the Chargers last season. He was a second-round pick by the team in 2015 but also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans from 2021 to 2023 before returning to Los Angeles.
The Titans continue to upgrade their offensive line after giving Dan Moore Jr. a four-year deal worth up to $82 million earlier in free agency. Tennessee is signing Zeitler, a 13-year veteran who made the Pro Bowl in 2023, to a one-year deal worth up to $9 million to lock down their right guard job. Zeitler has made 197 career starts with the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions. The 35-year-old graded as Pro Football Focus' third-best guard for the 2024 NFL season in his lone campaign with the Lions. He allowed five sacks and committed just two penalties over 1,047 snaps.
Herbert had 130 rushing yards and a touchdown on 36 carries with the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals in 2024. He will look to win more consistent snaps in the Colts' backfield behind Jonathan Taylor during the 2025 season.
The Cowboys already acquired one defensive player via trade on Wednesday (CB Kaiir Elam). Now, they are closing in on a deal for Murray, who had 95 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 14 games for the Titans last season. Murray, 26, was a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2020 NFL draft. He has 416 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 73 career games (67 starts).
Lawrence spent the first 11 years of his career with the Cowboys, racking up 61.5 sacks across 141 career games (123 starts). Now, the four-time Pro Bowler will be joining the Seahawks on a three-year deal worth up to $42 million, per
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport . Lawrence, 33 in April, will get $18 million guaranteed on his new contract.
Rozeboom had a career-high 135 tackles in 17 games (11 starts) for the Rams last year. The Panthers will bring him aboard as a potential upgrade to their linebacker corps.
The Steelers have agreed to sign Slay to a one-year deal worth $10 million. The 34-year-old will look to earn the team's starting job across from Joey Porter Jr. while providing, along with fellow signee Brandin Echols, some much needed depth to Pittsburgh's cornerback room.
Hodge had seven special teams tackles in 2024 and caught seven passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He will provide the Falcons with quality depth at receiver.
Onwuzurike made a career-high 10 starts for the Lions in 2024 and totaled 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the team. He is returning on a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million.

Hargrave wasn't the only 49ers defensive tackle to quickly reach a deal. Collins, who the team also released, is set to ink a two-year deal worth up to $20 million with $13 million guaranteed.
The 49ers officially released Hargrave after the start of the new league year on Wednesday. The Vikings quickly agreed to terms with him on a two-year, $30 million contract to further bolster the team's defensive line. Meanwhile, the Jets will create $7 million in cap savings for 2025 by designating Rodgers a post-June 1 cut, a maneuver that spreads his single-season dead-cap hit out over two seasons. The Jets will absorb a $35 million
dead cap hit for 2026 by making Rodgers a post-June 1 cut. Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 starts but led the Jets to just a 5-12 record.
The
Bills are getting a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Cowboys in exchange for Elam and a 2025 sixth-round pick. Buffalo selected Elam in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, but he struggled to earn playing time in Buffalo. He made just 12 starts over three seasons and had 81 tackles and two interceptions across 29 games. Elam won't turn 24 until May so Dallas is banking on his untapped potential.
The Falcons will owe veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins a $10 million bonus if he is still on the roster as of Sunday, March 16. Robinson noted Cousins would become "a pricey backup or a trade candidate" with Michael Penix Jr. set to be Atlanta's starter in 2025.
The Giants are adding versatile depth to their offensive line with the signing of former Seahawk Stone Forsythe to a contract. Terms have not yet been disclosed. Forsythe played in 53 games (including 14 starts) in his four years in Seattle with time at right and left tackle. In early February, Kupp publicly announced that the Rams had informed him they would try to trade him this offseason. Rodgers is set to enter the final season of the three-year, $112.5 million contract he signed with the Jets in 2023. New York would take on a $23.5 million cap hit into June should it designate the quarterback a post-June 1 release. After that, Rodgers would be responsible for a $14 million cap hit in 2025 and $35 million cap hit in 2026. Holding the Jets back from a potential trade is the fact that Rodgers has a no-trade clause in his contract, which would allow the quarterback to nix any potential deal.
Ford and the Falcons have agreed to terms on a two-year, $4 million deal. The defensive back is returning to Atlanta after two years in Cleveland. He has played primarily on special teams over the last five years.
