Blues +1.5 Pick #1: Canadiens/Capitals Over 6.5 The first game of Wednesday’s slate features the Washington Capitals hosting the Montreal Canadiens . The Capitals can close the series with a win, but the total is the bet to target in this matchup, as there have been seven or more total goals scored in each of the past two games. That trend is likely to continue given the goaltending situation for both teams. With Sam Montembeault injured for Montreal, backup goaltender Jakub Dobes is expected to get the nod once again. He struggled in Game 3, surrendering three goals on 24 shots for an .875 save percentage. Meanwhile, goaltender Logan Thompson guards the crease for Washington. Thompson has allowed three or more goals in five of his past eight starts, posting an .876 SV% and 3.58 GAA over that stretch. Although the Tampa Bay Lightning face potential elimination, there is one main reason I like them to extend the series: Andrei Vasilevskiy following a loss. Vasilevskiy is one of the best goaltenders of the modern era, and one of his greatest strengths is his ability to rebound after a poor performance. In his past six starts following a loss, Vasilevskiy is 4-1-1 with a remarkable .944 SV%. With their backs against the wall on home ice, look for the Bolts to live to fight another day. Pick #3: Blues +1.5 While the St. Louis Blues may not win against the Winnipeg Jets tonight, they are mispriced, particularly at -190 to cover +1.5. Dating back to the regular season, St. Louis has covered +1.5 in 30 of its past 34 games. The Blues have also won each of the past two games against Winnipeg by four or more goals. This recent dominance is due in part to the struggles of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck , who has melted down under the postseason pressure.
