BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Nine Penobscot Valley School of Gymnastics athletes have earned their way to the big stage of the National Gymnastics Association.

They advanced from last weekend’s NGA Eastern Regionals in Harrisburg, Pa. to NGA Nationals next month in Virginia Beach.

“Not a lot of people can say that ‘oh, I’ve been to Nationals’ in Virginia. Last time, we did it in New Orleans. I think it’s pretty nice,” said Katri Sullivan, Level 4 gymnast.

“You’ve got to practice some skills that you’re having trouble on and make sure you have your routine down like repetition,” said Khloe Grass, Gold gymnast.

“You’ve got to practice and make sure your legs are straight and your toes are pointed. (I’m excited to be) getting a vacation off school,” said Audrey Mitchell, Level 4 gymnast.

The national event runs from June 2-7 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
