MEXICO, N.Y. -- New York State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at a local grocery store. In the early hours of Feb. 15, troopers responded to a 911 call about a disturbance in the parking lot of Tops in Mexico, Oswego County. The initial investigation revealed that a suspect, who arrived in a pickup truck, exited the vehicle and engaged in a physical confrontation with the victim. During this altercation, the suspect fatally shot the victim. NYSP said that the victim is identified as Jacob Walsh, 32, from Mexico, N.Y. The suspect, Zachary W. Chilson, 31, also from Mexico, was arrested on the same day and faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Chilson was arraigned on Feb. 16, and is currently being held without bail. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call NYSP at 315-366-6000.
