Doo Dah Parade: Ocean City’s annual Doo Dah Parade will step off at noon Saturday at Sixth Street and Asbury Avenue. The procession features marching bands, floats and hundreds of basset hounds. The route will travel along Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, then turn to the Boardwalk and finish on the Boardwalk at Sixth Street. Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene will serve as grand marshal. Greene will be available for free autographs and pictures at the Music Pier for an hour after the parade.
Ocean City Easter events: The first of two Great Egg Hunts will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Participating merchants will invite children up to age 7 to visit stores with their families to collect eggs filled with toys, treats and prizes. Flyers will direct families to 50 participating stores to collect eggs trick-or-treat-style. Rain date is Sunday. A second Great Egg Hunt is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. April 19 with a rain date of April 20.

The Easter Bunny will visit with children from 9 a.m. to noon April 12, 13 and 19 at Mark Soifer Park at Ninth Street and Asbury Avenue. Families will be able to take photos with the Easter Bunny in an Ocean City lifeguard boat.
Cape May Easter events: The Kiwanis Club of Cape May Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. April 19 on the beach behind Convention Hall at 714 Beach Ave. The winner in each age group, from toddler to age 10, who finds the golden egg will receive a prize. There is no rain date. The City of Cape May, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May and the small businesses of the Washington Street Mall will hold the annual Easter Fashion Stroll at 1 p.m. April 20 at Rotary Park, 400 Lafayette St. Registration for the stroll will begin at noon. Judging categories and age groups are 3 and younger, 4 to 6, 7 to 9, 10 to 12, 13 and older, best dressed lady, man, couple, family and best Easter bonnet for youth and adult. Prizes will be awarded. Hammerstedt completes leadership program: Teresa Hammerstedt, of Vineland, has completed the Leadership Development Program through the University of Maryland Global Campus chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. NSLS is a leadership development organization with more than 1.5 million members and more than 700 chapters across the United States and Latin America. The society encourages community action, volunteerism, personal growth and strong leadership from its chapters and members around the world.
Middle Township is seeking nominations for banners honoring veterans and service members that would hang in the downtown. Honor a veteran with a banner: Middle Township has launched a Hometown Heroes Banner Program, designed to honor and recognize local veterans and active-duty military for their dedication and service to their community and country. The program’s banners will feature photos of past and present service members, to be displayed in designated areas in downtown Cape May Court House. “The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have selflessly served our country and community,” Mayor Chris Leusner said. “These individuals embody the true spirit of bravery and sacrifice, and their contributions deserve to be recognized and celebrated. Atlantic Cape alumni honored: The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation recognized six of the college’s alumni during the annual President’s Distinguished Alumni and Young Alumni Awards Dinner on April 3 at Carême’s restaurant on the Mays Landing campus. Honored this year were Karen Brundage-Johnson, Class of 2015, Raymond Williams, Class of 1972, Walter Johnson III, Class of 1993, Regina McCann Larsen, Class of 1974, Alana Maldonado, Class of 2018, and Kyle Timpson, Class of 2016.
