The organizer of the FYRE Festival is now in prison. And it only gets worse ...

You've heard of the Fyre Festival, the ill-fated luxury music festival that was scheduled to take place during two spring weekends in 2017, right? Well, get ready to live the horror all over again with the new Netflix documentary coming this month.

Though the festival itself never actually took place, it was relentlessly promoted by "influencers" across social media. Tickets to the festival cost exorbitant amounts of money and were snapped up by gullible, wealthy young people looking to have the sort of good time that receives a lot of "likes" on Instagram.

No, dear readers, they did not have a good time. They had the opposite of a good time.

So, Netflix decided to team up with Vice to make a documentary showing exactly how the FYRE Festival went wrong. It will be released on January 18 and will chronicle the misery experienced by all involved.

So, what exactly went wrong at the FYRE Festival? Well, for starters, "luxury villas" turned out to be the type of tent FEMA uses; the gourmet meals turned out to be cheese sandwiches; the lineup was supposed to feature G.O.O.D. Music, Major Lazer, and Blink 182 and ended up not featuring any of those acts; the beautiful beach turned out to be infested with sand flies; and many, many inbound flights were canceled. (Honestly, the folks on those flights were the lucky ones.)

Ja Rule was prominently involved, although, I'm still not entirely clear as to what Ja's exact role was. Festival organizer Billy McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison in October for wire fraud.

Basically, the FYRE Festival was like if the birthday party Jim and Dwight planned in The Office was a luxury music festival. But even that was better than this mess.

Not sure about you, but I can't wait to watch this documentary! Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
