Companies with ampersands aren’t doing well in Bethesda. Noodles & Company just joined Barnes & Noble as the latest company to pull out of the city.
The move is part of the company's plan to shutter underperforming restaurants. Last year, they announced plans to close 55 Noodles & Company locations across the country but did not mention whether Bethesda was on the chopping block. We now know that the downtown Bethesda restaurant located on Elm Street and the Westfield Montgomery location have closed their doors. “Closing any business anywhere is never an easy decision, and closing these restaurants was a hard but necessary call to make,” the company’s spokesman wrote in a release. “These changes affecting underperforming restaurants reflect our business decision to focus our resources on our many strong performing restaurants.”
It has been reported that staff at these closed restaurants were offered positions in nearby restaurants or received severance benefits.
