Florida basketball secured a key addition via the transfer portal as former Ohio University guard AJ Brown officially signed with the Gators, according to 247Sports' Graham Hall.

The former Ohio guard is the brother of Florida sophomore guard Isaiah Brown . He brings size, experience and scoring ability to a Florida backcourt looking to reload for next season.

Brown, a 6-foot-4-inch guard, started all 29 games for the Bobcats during the 2024-25 season. He averaged 13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 assists per game while shooting efficiently and showcasing his development as a two-way player.

Brown evaluated a wide range of options, drawing interest from several Power Four programs. Missouri and LSU were among the SEC schools that reached out, and other schools such as Xavier, Virginia Tech and Butler were also in the mix.

A native of Orlando, Brown is the second portal signee for the Gators this offseason, joining former Princeton guard Xaivian Lee .

Unlike many transfers who go through a series of official visits, Brown opted for a more direct approach. He visited Florida just days before announcing his commitment on April 24, choosing to finalize his move without a lengthy recruiting process.

Brown's arrival gives the Gators a proven guard with college experience, positional size and the ability to impact both ends of the floor. He returns to his home state to join a reloading Florida roster under head coach Todd Golden .
