SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) -- One man was found dead after a fire in Springfield.

The City of Springfield said, the fire department responded to a structure fire on S. 8th Street near S. Grand Ave. around 8 p.m. Friday.

When firefighters entered the building they found the man. The Sangamon County Coroner said the man was pronounced dead that the scene.

His name has not been released.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

The fire remains under investigation.
