QUINCY (WGEM) - One person is dead after a crash on I-72 Wednesday morning.

According to the Illinois State Police, they responded at 9:16 a.m. to I-172 at 36th Street in Quincy for a fatal crash involving a permitted oversized load.

ISP reported one person was pronounced dead on scene and one was taken to an area hospital with injuries.

The interstate is closed northbound due to the multivehicle crash.

According to the Adams County Coroner, the victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
