JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County –Authorities in Onslow County are investigating a structure fire that happened late Wednesday night, May 7, 2025, on the 400 block of Joy Court in Jacksonville. According to Onslow County Public Information Officer Trevor Dunnell, emergency crews from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, EMS, and local fire departments responded to the scene around 11:30 PM after receiving reports of a house fire. Authorities determined that 43-year-old Teddie Lee Taylor Sr. was responsible for intentionally setting the fire. According to authorities, Taylor Sr. poured gasoline inside the residence before igniting it. The resulting blaze destroyed the home. Following the incident, Taylor Sr. reportedly left the scene and traveled to another location, where he took his own life. No other individuals were injured in the fire. Authorities have confirmed that the affected family has been offered assistance in the wake of the incident. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.
