Show us what you've got and strut your stuff on the runway!
Denver Fashion Week Spring 2020, the city's largest fashion showcase, is set for April 25 to May 3. The crowds turn out to see local designers, national brands, and all the top hair and makeup artists. It's the place to be if you want to see what's going on in Denver’s fashion scene!
"Denver Fashion Week is one of the fastest-growing American fashion platforms," according to Forbes Magazine.
Of course, the event could not happen without all the amazing and talented models to walk the runways and show off all the looks and designers' work. The casting call for models is now open to any model aged 17 and older who wants to give it a go. Any size, shape, height, weight, or gender models are encouraged to apply. The casting call is clear that it includes "petite, plus-size, men and women models ages 50+, trans and femme men ages 20-40.” All are encouraged to bring their best walk to strut the runway and wow the judges.
The call is set for Sunday, March 1, and casting times are based on age and height. The event will be held at the McNichols Civic Center Building, on the third floor. This is the only date that the casting call will be held, so interested parties should plan to be there. There are no walk-ins allowed, all participants must register ahead of time. Casting call times are as follows:
- 11 a.m. – 5.9″+ height
- 12 p.m. – 5.7″–5.9″ height
- 1 p.m. – Under 5.7″ height
Now, what to wear ... Women are required to wear a black tank top, tight-fitting pants or skinny jeans, and heels, while men are required to wear black t-shirts and jeans.
Parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended. Also, please note that only street parking will be available, so it's advisable to get there early.
For those wanting a little guidance and practice before the casting call, a model workshop is being presented by Julie Gallahue from Goldie Mae Productions. She will host a two-hour class that will present models with the basics of walking a runway, as well as other tips and advice to have a successful casting. Proper runway walking, including posture, arm placement, hand position, step, stride, turns, pivots, opposes, and backstage etiquette will all be covered.
Tickets cost $50 per participant, you can find complete information and purchase tickets here. The class is for models 15 years of age and older.
Showcasing the diversity of the community, along with the fashion, is a beautiful sight to see. We cannot wait to see who gets chosen to strut their stuff this spring! Regardless of who gets selected, we take our hats off to anyone who has the courage to get out there and try!
