The Kennedy Center will be hosting the 11th annual "Opera in the Outfield" event on September 29, featuring a free outside opera performance viewing at Nationals Ball Park.
We told you it was different.
This year, the show will be "The Barber of Seville," but even if you don’t know it, it's so worth coming out for the experience of the evening. The show itself will start at 7 p.m., on Saturday, September 29, but the gates to the ballpark will open at 5 p.m. for all the pre-opera activities that you will really not want to miss. And though it is just a viewing on a screen, it would behoove you to come early and prepared because this event has been incredibly crowded in the past.
If you do really love opera and have a particular affinity for "The Barber of Seville," you need to check out the costume shop, where you can find all sorts of interesting period pieces, from clothing to accessories. Even if you don’t want anything for your home or collection, you might still be able to find a great Halloween costume there.
Other pre-opera activities include an instrument meet-and-greet, games with prizes, and drawings you may be just lucky enough to win. And of course, there's so much more.
