EUGENE Ore. (KPTV) - University of Oregon basketball player Jackson Shelstad has been named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team ahead of the Ducks’ first season in the Big Ten Conference, the school announced Tuesday.

Shelstad started 30 of 32 games for the Ducks last season as a freshman, averaging 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. The guard was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and earned All-Pac-12-Tournament honors.

The West Linn native had a decorated high school career. He was named the Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year in both his junior and senior season with the West Linn Lions.

He is joined by Washington’s Great Osobor as the only players from the four new conference members named to the ten-man preseason team.

Former Gonzaga and Arizona center Oumar Ballo also earned preseason honors, entering his first season at Indiana and final year of collegiate eligibility.

The Ducks won the Pac-12 Tournament in their final season in the conference this spring. They defeated South Carolina in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Creighton in double-overtime in the second round.

They kick-off the new season on Nov. 4 against UC Riverside at Matthew Knight Arena.
