We all know diapers and formula are expensive -- no matter how much money you make!
In response to a growing need state-wide, non-profit HomeAid Colorado has launched a month-long campaign to collect 200,000 diapers for financially-struggling families with young children.
“On average, one infant uses more than 60 diapers per week, costing parents upwards of $100 a month on diapers alone,” organizers of the HomeAid Colorado drive said. “One in three families in Colorado that need diapers can’t afford them.”
Between Mother's Day and Father's Day, the organization's “Essentials for Young Lives Drive” has made more than 55 collection sites available along the Front Range and in select areas around the state, thanks to the partnership of area businesses.
Donors are encouraged to give packages of diapers (all sizes!), wipes, formula, or cash, which will later be distributed to the families being served by the Denver Rescue Mission, Colorado Homeless Families, House of Colorado, Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot, Volunteers of America, The Gathering Place, and the Emergency Family Assistance Association.
Donations of the needed infant supplies are being collected through Father's Day, June 18. Collection drop-off bins are located throughout the Denver metro area, as well as throughout the state -- in Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Colorado Springs, Steamboat Springs, and Grand Junction, among others.
