Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson said seven years ago when the NCAA transfer portal originated that someone in the program would have to keep an eye on it every day.

And while the Nittany Lions most certainly have dabbled in the portal over those years — though not as much wholesale shopping as a few other teams — the recently crowned 2025 NCAA champions opened some eyes Sunday with the addition of a 2024 NCAA runner-up at 174 pounds.
