ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) — Crews responded to two house fires near Alexandria Sunday. Around 5:45 a.m. in Lake Mary Township south of I-94, crews responded to a fire that spread from a porch into a house and caused severe damage. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says several people had evacuated the house by the time they arrived. It is believed the cause of the fire was accidental. Around 7 p.m., crews responded to a house fire west of Alexandria. The Sheriff’s Office says the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. That fire also started on the porch and spread to the house. The Sheriff’s Office says the house and three vehicles were damaged in the blaze. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist those who were displaced. Both fires are under investigation, but believed to be accidental.
