He bought a residential compound on a reservoir in North Smithfield and he made an at-least-theoretical offer to buy The Conjuring House as the owner of the infamous Burrillville haunted house descended into controversy.

But what should we expect from the 29-year-old this coming year?

He has launched his nationwide Stay Golden Tour, which will close the year Dec. 31 at Boston's TD Garden. The tour, which includes some dates in Canada, hits spots such as Honolulu, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and Kansas City, plus two shows in New York's Madison Square Garden.

Was Matt Rife going to buy The Conjuring House?

The idea that Rife might have made an offer to buy The Conjuring House wasn't completely out of left field. In 2023, he spent a night in the house, some of it alone, to make a video for friend Elton Castee's YouTube channel, "Overnight."

But, after Castee let the world know on the X social media site that he and Rife were willing to buy the troubled property , owner Jacqueline Nuñez told The Providence Journal that she wasn't interested in selling it to anyone , particularly Rife.

Rife had a comedy special, "Natural Selection," on Netflix last year and has appeared on MTV's "Wild 'n Out." He is originally from Ohio but lives primarily in Los Angeles.

What house did Matt Rife buy in RI?

The correct question is: What HOUSES did Matt Rife buy in Rhode Island?

In a podcast interview this year, Rife described the land he bought as 80 acres with two houses , each with four bedrooms. "I got all that for probably the price of a two-bedroom with no yard in LA," Rife said in the podcast, where he indicated that convenience for traveling was a reason for choosing Rhode Island.

Though Rife didn't specify where he bought the property, clues from the interview, plus North Smithfield real estate records, point to transactions in that town in April for parcels totaling more than 80 acres sold to a real estate company whose manager, according to state records, is Christina Shams, also the name of Rife's talent agent.

Town records show the property is at the end of a long driveway and overlooks a reservoir.
