PHOENIX — Peoria’s first real-time crime center officially opened on Monday.

The Peoria City Council, city management and police leadership gathered together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new center, which will incorporate various technologies to help law enforcement crack down on crime.

The state-of-the-art facility at 23100 N. Lake Pleasant Pkwy. is south of Pinnacle Peak Road.

How will new Peoria crime center help law community?



A Monday announcement from the Peoria Police Department said the facility will enhance officers’ ability to prevent and fight crime across the city.

Essentially, the new crime center will centralize resources officers use to track and respond to active crimes, large-scale public events that need law enforcement presence and more.

Real-time data and analytics are some of the cutting-edge technologies that will help Peoria Police respond more quickly to crimes, investigate more thoroughly and be more effective at preventing crime, according to Peoria Police Chief Thomas Intrieri .

“Through cutting-edge technology, data integration, and collaboration, the RTCC will help us deter crime before it happens and solve cases more efficiently when it does,” Intrieri said in the release. “This is about ensuring that every officer in the field has the best possible resources to keep themselves and our community safe.”

The Arizona Department of Public Safety contributed $2.6 million to help equip and operate the new Peoria crime center.
