ST. LOUIS — Police this week arrested a man who they say punched a woman after she caught him dumping trash illegally in a St. Louis alley.

Willie Scott-Wilkes, 28, was charged with third-degree assault and tampering with a witness.

The 70-year-old woman confronted Scott-Wilkes and took photographs of him Feb. 2 in the 7800 block of North Broadway, police say.

Scott-Wilkes was irate, yelled at the woman to leave him alone then hit her in the face with his fist, police said.

After the incident, the St. Louis Police Department released two photos and asked for the public's help identifying Scott-Wilkes.

He was arrested on a $500 bond, according to online court records. He posted bail the same day.
