A Mississippi woman is under arrest after she reportedly pulled a gun on a person inside a vehicle. Police say the victim of a domestic situation was able to escape the vehicle and hide in a nearby business before an officer could arrive.

On Friday, May 3, at 3:40 PM, the Oxford Police Department responded to a business in the 1900 block of West Jackson Ave. for a reported domestic violence call in progress.

The victim escaped out of the vehicle while in the parking lot and went inside of the business stating that the suspect, later identified as Kadejah Martin, 29, of Oxford, pulled a gun and threatened to shoot them.

Someone inside the business then called 911 while the victim hid.

When the officer arrived, he pulled behind the suspect’s vehicle as she exited the passenger side.

She was ordered to put her hands on the car so she could be patted down for weapons.

Before the pat down could be completed, Martin pulled away. Unsure if she still had a firearm, the officer tried to restrain Martin. Martin continued to fight, and the officer had to take her to the ground.

Thankfully, a second law enforcement officer assisted in controlling Martin and she was placed into custody.

A firearm was located inside of the vehicle. Martin was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.

EMS was called to check on Martin as a precaution.

Nobody on the scene sustained any injuries.

Martin was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where she was booked for Domestic Violence — Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct. She was given a $100,000 bond by the Municipal Court Judge.
