Godfather's Pizza returned last year after a 20-year absence and will soon be expanding to Denver. This September, the popular pizza franchise will draw folks who are craving pizza and a dash of nostalgia.

Last summer, folks across Colorado flocked to Thornton and waited in long lines to get a taste of the thick-crust pizza they desperately missed. At that point, it had been nearly 20 years since the Godfather's Pizza location in Denver closed. The team at the pizza franchise is now aiming for a mid-September opening for a new location in Denver. The second location will be focused primarily on catering, delivery, and take-out customers. Jake Smith, co-owner of the chain's restaurants in Thornton and Denver, is hoping that if things go well with the new location they will be able to open more locations after that and bring Godfather's back to more areas around Colorado.

From thin, Neapolitan-style to thick and chewy crust, they also have pies with non-traditional toppings such as the Tex-Mex, the popular Bacon Chicken Ranch, the Taco Pie, and the Humble Pie. You can view the entire menu here. Godfather's started in 1973, in Omaha, after Willy Theisen opened a pizza shop and named it after the recently-released film The Godfather with Marlon Brando.
