It will be a windy day with wind gusts over 40 mph possible. Highs will be in the 60s. A line of strong to severe storms will track across Virginia. The line will impact far western Virginia by 10 a.m., and track through the metro from around noon to 2 p.m. The storms will exit eastern Virginia by 5 p.m. There is an enhanced risk (level 3 out of 5) for severe weather for most of the CBS 6 viewing area. Areas well north of Richmond are under a slight risk (level 2 out of 5). The storms could produce winds over 60 mph, with some winds over 70 mph possible south and east of Richmond. There is a chance of tornadoes, and a tornado watch will likely be issued. A few storms could also produce large hail. The severe threat will end this evening as a cold front passes through. Lows tonight will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Thursday will be variably cloudy, breezy, and cooler, with highs in the 50s. Friday will be partly cloudy and seasonably cool. Temperatures should return to the 60s on Saturday, but another cold front will bring a few scattered showers later in the day. A few showers will also be possible on Sunday. The extended pattern favors a nice warm-up next week, with highs in the 60s and 70s for a few days. Rain looks to return to the area next Thursday. 📱 Download the new and improved CBS 6 Weather App for iPhone and .
