Virginia is making strides in biotechnology with the launch of Project Vital.Project Vital is a statewide initiative to invest in research, workforce development, and biotech startups, positioning Virginia as a leader in biotechnology. Virginia Tech, Carilion Clinic, and the Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Alliance currently lead our region’s efforts.The organizations are collaborating, using their clinical and business expertise to manage the project.This initiative is backed by a $14.3 million grant from Go Virginia.“A larger effort to bring together resources, talent, investment in initiatives and planning around the growth of the overall health sciences, biotechnology, life sciences sector to help the whole region continue to grow in that area.”The project is estimated to create over 1,300 and generate over $40 million.
