Cooper Flagg long has been projected to be the No.1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and now it’s one step closer to officially happening.

The Duke star officially declared for the draft on Monday.

“Duke fans, my teammates, the brotherhood, everybody that was along for the journey. It was an incredible year, probably the best year of my life and I have so much gratitude and I feel so blessed for all the opportunities that I was given,” Flagg said in a video posted to his Instagram account . “Duke has always been a dream for me, but I’m excited to announce that I’ll be entering my name into the 2025 NBA draft.

The 18-year-old averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in his one season with the Blue Devils. Flagg also shot 39% from 3-point range.

While he only played one season, his numbers were enough to earn the the Naismith National Player of the Year.

Flagg helped Duke to a 35-4 record and became the first Duke player to score 30 points, have at least five rebounds and as many assists in an NCAA tournament game — which came in a Sweet 16 win over Arizona.

Even though the New England native declared for the draft, he has until May 28 to decide if he wants to withdraw. Flagg told The Athletic in February that he’d like to return to Duke for his sophomore year, but he has intentions to go pro this summer.

The NBA Draft is set for June 25.
