The Raiders were trailing 19-17 but were approaching field-goal range in the final minute. However, a miscommunication between quarterback Aidan O'Connell and center Jackson Powers-Johnson resulted in an early snap that caused a fumble that the Chiefs recovered to secure the victory.

Both O'Connell and Powers-Johnson claimed that the miscue was their fault, but in the end, the result on the field was an eighth consecutive loss for the Raiders in what has amounted to a lost season.

The Raiders dropped to 2-10 with the loss. A victory wouldn't have necessarily turned the season around but it would have been a notch in Pierce's belt as head coach and allowed the Raiders to carry some buzz into the rest of the season.
