LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Federal Aviation Administration has opened an investigation into the Las Cruces airport.

According to the Albuquerque Journal , the investigation is regarding a claim that an employee is not qualified or properly trained and that city officials have not taken corrective action.

The City will be cooperating with the FAA throughout the course of the investigation. The City remains committed to open communication with our federal partners. Out of respect for the investigative process and in consideration of potential personnel-related matters, the City will not be commenting on specific allegations at this time.

A pilot died after a plane crash during an air show at the Las Cruces airport in October 2024.
