Take "Restaurant Week" home with you!

"Restaurant Week" has been a staple of Hampton Roads restaurants for years now, and 2021 is no exception. It's always been a time for eateries to spotlight their chefs, offer tantalizing deals to the public, and promote local business. The event has always been a good opportunity to take advantage of discounts at your favorite hot spots, or to check out places that are new, or that you just haven't been to yet.  

With the nation still dealing with the pandemic, restaurants have had to alter their approach to just about everything. Traditionally, the prix-fixe menus (and their discounted prices) are offered for dine-in only. This year, most participating restaurants will be offering the same deals for carryout and many for delivery as well.  

Portsmouth

It's not too late to check out everything P-Town has to offer for "Restaurant Week."  With the event ending on January 30, you still have plenty of time to check out breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner at 25 different locations! Participating restaurants offer two-course lunches at $10 or $15 and three-course dinners for $25 or $35. Portsmouth VA Events suggests you take some nights off from cooking and support local small businesses that "need your support more than ever right now ... whether through takeout or dining with proper social distancing." Weather permitting, many of the eateries offer patio seating.  

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach's Restaurant Week is just about to start with a whopping 41 establishments participating. Almost all of the restaurants are offering their specials for take-out but be sure to check out the official site as a few did specify that it was "dine-in only." From January 31- February 6, Virginia Beach eateries will be offering $5 and $10 breakfasts, $10 and $15 two-course lunches, $20, $25, $35 three-course dinners. Also, brand new for 2021, many restaurants "cooked up" the idea to offer $25, $40, and $60 Take-out Family Meals. Check with the individual places for details, but it sounds exciting on its own, don't you think?  

Many of the establishments, such as local favorite Rockafeller's on Rudee Inlet will be offering $5 Signature Restaurant Week Cocktails and specially priced Wine by the Bottle.  And don't forget that you are allowed to go home with cocktails nowadays (if there was one good thing to come out of the pandemic—it would be that)!
