It was a sad day when we reported that Missing Chopsticks , Richmond’s French restaurant with an Asian twist, announced it would be closing its doors on May 4. Now, we unfortunately have another casualty to report on in the Richmond dining scene. Mama’s Diner announced on Instagram that its final day of operation was April 27. “This journey has been nothing short of incredible, and we’re so grateful for every one of you who walked through our doors, supported us, and became part of our story. Your love and encouragement have meant the world,” said the restaurant. Mama’s Diner was best known for its cozy Korean comfort food, such as savoury pancakes and hot pot. “Though we’re closing this chapter, we’ll carry the memories, laughter, and community with us always,” added the restaurant. Richmond has had a number of restaurants announcing closures in recent months, including Missing Chopstick closing on May 4; the 77-year-old Buck and Ear Pub, whose final day is May 3; and Richmond’s first bubble waffle shop, Rainbow Cafe Bubble Waffle, which closed on February 26 after over 30 years.
