Summary

If you believe football is life, get ready to jump for joy because a fan-favorite streaming comedy is coming back for more. Ted Lasso and the crew at AFC Richmond will be returning to Apple TV+ at some point in the somewhat near future.

The Emmy Award-winning series Ted Lasso debuted on Apple TV+ in August 2020 with relatively little fanfare. It was, after all, a ten-episode comedy-drama about an English Premier League team led by Jason Sudeikis' American college football coach. It was, after all, spun off from a series of promotional material for Premier League coverage on NBC Sports. It was, after all, a show without any big-name stars outside of Sudeikis who—let's face it—isn't exactly leading man material in the traditional Hollywood sense. There is absolutely no reason on Earth Ted Lasso should've worked and yet, it really, really did . With all due respect to series like The Morning Show , Mythic Quest , Central Park , and For All Mankind , Ted Lasso was the first series on Apple TV+ to be must-see television. After the initial three seasons and years of waffling about the future, fans had accepted that their time with Coach Lasso had seemingly come to an end... but not anymore.

Ted Lasso became a fan favorite and Emmy Award-Winning comedy show and these episodes are some of the series' highlight moments.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , Sudeikis has finally agreed to return to the show which means a fourth season of Ted Lasso is officially coming down the pike. Another season of the beloved series hinged on the star returning, as the vast majority of the cast had already agreed to come back for another season years ago. It seems, after some needed time away from the character, Sudeikis is ready to return and provide the folksy charm that the world so desperately needs. Apple TV+'s head of programming Matt Cherniss was effusive in his excitement, stating "[e]veryone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

So What's In Store For Ted Lasso And Company?

With THR also reporting that Juno Temple—who along with Brendan Hunt is one of the few main cast members not officially back yet—is close to an agreement to return, Keeley Jones and Hannah Waddingham's Rebecca Welton can continue with the women's team they were planning on forming at the end of the third season. As if on cue, Sudeikis went on The New Heights podcast Friday morning and announced that his titular character will be coaching a women's team in the new season. As for the rest of the AFC Richmond crew, who knows what is in store for the lovable crew of misfits?

The third season felt like a solid goodbye of sorts , with Lasso returning home to Kansas to coach his son and the majority of the Richmond storylines sewn up quite nicely. Nate returned to the fold, Beard got married, Rebecca sold 49% of the club to the fans, and Roy became Richmond's manager. There is a sense of finality to everything that happened. That being said, the world could always use a little more happiness and a smidge more joy... Ted Lasso is a show that provides heartfelt laughs in abundance and its official return should be celebrated.

All three seasons of Ted Lasso are currently streaming on Apple TV+.
