We hate to see a restaurant closure , especially when that restaurant has been operating for over 30 years. Rainbow Cafe Bubble Waffle will close its doors because the owners have decided to retire after 30 years of operation. Parker Place Mall, where Rainbox Cafe Bubble Waffle is located, shared the sad news on Instagram. “Rainbow Cafe has been a beloved spot at Parker Place for 30 years, run by a sibling duo,” said the mall. “It was Richmond’s first bubble waffle shop.” In addition to its bubble waffles, Rainbow Cafe was also known for its dragon’s beard candy. Its last day of operation will be on Feb. 26. “Come visit, relive the sweet taste, and say farewell to the friendly owners,” added the mall. However, those who can’t live without these bubble waffles are not entirely out of luck. The mall shared that the couple will still accept orders and party bookings by phone at 778-712-7333. Rainbow Cafe isn’t the only longstanding Metro Vancouver restaurant that has closed its doors recently. Cartems Donuts closed on Feb. 14 after 14 years of operation, Joe’s Cafe closed after over 50 years at the end of 2024, and Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe closed after 20 years (but don’t worry, its pie shop is still open).
