WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - As scattered winter precipitation and bitter cold temperatures have initiated a bevy of closures across the area, road conditions have worsened and officials are warning Wichita Falls residents not to travel unless necessary.

The City of Wichita Falls has deployed chat spreaders to help improve traction on potentially slick roadways. Multiple wrecks have occurred throughout the day already, including a city truck that turned on its side off of River Road, although it is not known if weather played a part in that or other wrecks.

WFPD is also asking Wichita Falls residents to stay off the roads if possible as a safety precaution.
