The Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA) named Rockdale Academy, 335 Rockdale Ave. in Avondale, a 2024 OAESA Hall of Fame School.

“As a neighborhood school in Avondale, we take great pride in serving all students, embracing diversity, and fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity,” Rockdale Academy Principal Dr. Jaren Finney said.

“Our small school setting allows us to provide individualized attention and support, ensuring that each student receives the personalized education they deserve.”

The award recognizes schools that engage faculty, students and the community to provide a quality school experience.

Dr. Finney says the honor is validating for her school community.

“Knowing the challenges and obstacles our students, families and staff face daily, being recognized as a Hall of Fame School fills me with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. I feel a deep sense of pride in our students, who demonstrate resilience, determination and a thirst for learning despite the hardships they may encounter outside the classroom. Their dedication to their education and their willingness to overcome adversity inspire me every single day,” Dr. Finney said.

She also says the award represents more than an achievement, but serves as a “testament to the transformative power of education.”

“My gratitude extends to our dedicated and passionate staff members who pour their hearts and souls into their work, often going above and beyond to ensure our students receive the support and resources they need to succeed. Their unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and student-centered learning is truly remarkable,” Dr. Finney said. “I am also grateful for the unwavering support of our families and community partners, whose collaboration and engagement are instrumental in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students.”

Hall of Fame schools were selected by committees of OAESA members. Rockdale Academy will be among the Hall of Fame Award winners recognized during OAESA’s centennial celebration in June at the OAESA Professional Conference and Tradeshow in Columbus.

“I would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Superintendent Wright and our esteemed Board of Education members for their unwavering support,” Dr. Finney said. “Their dedication to the students, staff, families, and community at Rockdale Academy is truly commendable and deeply appreciated.”
