EAST MONTPELIER - Rory Ann Glassford scored 16 points and teammates Sophie Guarriello and Taylor Keel added a dozen points apiece to power Spaulding during Thursday’s 51-47 girls basketball victory over U-32. Guarriello nabbed six steals, while both Glassford and Keel added five steals. Leading the way for U-32 were Clara Wilson (12 points), Peyton Pecor (nine points), Mya Gould (eight points), Paige Parker (seven points) and Lydia Trombly (seven points). “We had to regroup at the half because Peyton Pecor was killing us under the basket,” Spaulding coach Tanya MacAuley said. “Emma Young and Rory worked together and (Pecor) didn’t score again, except a foul shot in the second half. The energy in the building was electric and it’s what every home team looks for. It was a great game by both teams.” U-32 (3-5) will travel to play Fair Haven at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Spaulding (5-3) will travel to play Lamoille at 7 p.m. Tuesday. “Our goal today was focused on the little wins,” Raiders coach Olivia Mekkelsen said. “And eventually those are the things that are going to create opportunities on the scoreboard for us to get some big wins this season. We played tough defense and made them work for every basket. We played some of the best team basketball that we’ve played all season. We got off 52 shots and had 41 boards, so that’s something that we have to continue into the games ahead.” NORTHFIELD - A 23-point performance by Hannah Spencer combined with 15-point efforts from Natalie Beliveau and Julia French led the Blue Devils to Thursday’s lopsided victory over the Marauders. “We came out strong and our defense was solid,” Williamstown coach Thurman Wilder said. “We were able to capitalize on the turnovers, which gave us an early lead that we held throughout. Everyone contributed tonight and it was a great team win.” Courtney Beliveau finished with eight points for the Blue Devils, who led 25-0 after the first quarter. Williamstown was up 35-3 entering halftime and led 51-9 after three quarters. Northfield’s top scorers were Sienna Erickson (six points), Bella Powers (five points) and Olivia Boyd (four points). “Northfield has been plagued with injuries, but they played hard all four quarters,” Wilder said. Northfield (0-8) will host Danville at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Williamstown (4-4) will travel to play Blue Mountain the same day at 7 p.m. FAIRFAX - Wildcats sophomore Kelsie Rivard singlehandedly outscored the entire Bullets squad Thursday, tallying 30 points to go along with 15 rebounds and 10 steals for a triple-double. “Our effort was outstanding tonight and we had some success in areas we’ve struggled with early in the season,” Hazen coach Randy Lumsden said. “It was nice to see the progress.” Adi See scored seven points for BFA, which falls to 0-8 and will host Stowe at 2 p.m. Saturday. Hazen (7-0) will host Winooski at 6 p.m. Tuesday. BRADFORD - Makenna Houston scored 16 points, while teammates Maggi Ellsworth and Braylee Phelps added 15 points apiece Thursday to pace the undefeated Olympians. Brooke Osgood and Kane Fuller Pantzer each scored eight points for Oxbow, which led 16-6 after the first quarter. The Olympians were up 28-10 entering halftime and carried a 40-11 advantage into the final quarter. “The girls played hard tonight,” Oxbow coach Barry Emerson said. Regan Walke scored five points for Montpelier, which falls to 3-6 and will host Peoples Academy at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Oxbow (8-0) will travel to play Thetford the same day.
