Passengers must wear face masks and practice social distancing while aboard the shuttles.
RTD announced it will resume its Free MallRide shuttle service on the 16th Street Mall on Sunday, June 21. RTD suspended the service back in April due to low usage from the coronavirus pandemic.
The free shuttle service runs down the 16th Street Mall, starting from Civic Center up to Union Station. According to a press release on Monday, the MallRide shuttle will commence operations for staff training during the week in preparation for resuming its services this weekend.
Even though the service will resume, RTD is taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. RTD says the shuttles will be cleaned daily and operators are required to wear face masks. Passengers must also wear a face covering and practice social distancing while aboard the MallRide shuttles.
RTD CEO and general manager Paul Ballard said in the press release that RTD is a key partner to revising the region as it begins to reopen. "We are not only a lifeline to many but an economic driver connecting people to the places they want and need to go," Ballard said.
Alongside reopening the free mall shuttle, RTD will also hand out face coverings and sanitizer to customers at the following times and locations:
- June 24: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Downtown Boulder Station; 4 to 6 pm. at Union Station Bus Concourse.
- June 25: 4 to 6 p.m. at Civic Center Station and Union Station light rail platform.
- June 30: 4 to 6 p.m. at Aurora Metro Center Station and Union Station commuter rail platform.
- July 1: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Federal Center Station and I-25 & Broadway Station.
- July 7: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Wadsworth & Hampden Park-n-Ride.
- July 8: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Colorado Station; 4 to 6 p.m. at Decatur-Federal Station and Nine Mile Station.
- July 9: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at U.S. 36 & Broomfield Station; 4 to 6 p.m. at Olde Town Arvada Station.
- July 14: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Wagon Road Park-n-Ride.
- July 15: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Peoria Station and West Side Thornton Park-n-Ride; 4 to 6 p.m. at Arapahoe at Village Center Station.
- July 16: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at U.S. 36 & Table Mesa Park-n-Ride; 4 to 6 p.m. at Littleton-Mineral Station.
