The popular winter urban terrain park to remain closed this season.

Denver Parks and Recreation has recently announced that Ruby Hill Rail Yard will not be opening this year due to capacity limits and other COVID-19 restrictions. Both the rail yard and the sledding hill will be closed until further notice.

The City and the Parks and Recreation Department are working with health officials to try and get some sections of the park open, if possible. There's not a time frame or estimate for when that might happen, though. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Ruby Hill Rail Yard is a winter urban terrain park and rail yard within Denver city limits that's become a popular place among snowboarders and skiers. Created in 2007, Ruby Hill Rail Yard features 10 rails and boxes that are of different skill levels. A combined effort between Winter Park and Denver Parks and Recreation, the park is free to everyone—when it's open, of course.

Typically, the rail yard opens in late-January or early-February into March.

What do you think of the closure? Have you ever been to the Ruby Hill Rail Yard in years past? What's your favorite part? Let us know in the comments below.
