And the original cast will be reprising their roles.

Calling all '90s kids—your favorite gang of rascals is coming back to the small screen. Rugrats is getting a reboot for Viacom CBS's streaming service Paramount+. The new series, which was announced by the company Wednesday, will feature the classic characters of our childhood—Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie, and Angelica—in a CGI-animated world. All the original voice actors are slated to resume their roles.

“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand-new audience,” Nickelodeon's Animation President Ramsey Naito said in a press release. “Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.”

Created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain, the original cartoon premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991, where it wrapped up in 2004 after nine seasons. It also produced three movies and the spin-off series All Grown Up!, which followed the babies into their pre-teen years. A huge hit in children's television, the award-winning show has become a beloved fixture in '90s pop-culture.

The new show will be produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios, whose team includes Rugrats veterans Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier as executive producers and Senior Manager Mollie Freilich as the production's head. Additionally, the reboot also coincides with changing the streaming service's name; CBS All Access will be shifting to Paramount+ this March.

Despite the difference in animation, we're looking forward to the revival. Between the iconic voices, the colorful vibrancy of the world, and the focus on the babies' "pint-sized and wildly imaginative point-of-view," we think it captures the spirit of the original 2-D series well.
