It’s been only a week since the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. We haven’t gotten to free agency or the 2025 NFL draft. We haven’t even made it to the combine yet. The New Orleans Saints offseason is off to a quiet start.

Certainly, it’s too early for 2025 NFL power rankings, right? Yes and no. There are still two talent acquisition stages coming over the next few months, so we don’t have the complete picture of how a team will look at the start of the season. At the same time, this football cycle never really stops.

The New Orleans Saints will be hoping to see their stock rise significantly after free agency and the draft. As things stand, NFL.com draft writer Eric Edholm currently sees the Saints as the fifth-worst team in the league.

In case you were curious, the only teams ranked lower than New Orleans are those with the first three picks in the draft, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Despite the change in leadership with Kellen Moore taking over, the expectations haven’t raised for New Orleans. Lack of funds will make it difficult to land a highly impactful free agency class, so it makes sense that expectations are measured. Though, bottom-five in the league still feels a bit low. Maybe humble expectations are just what they need to reset for a new era.
