The San Diego Padres (13-13) take on the Colorado Rockies (6-18) Wednesday in the 3rd game of a 4-game set at Coors Field at 8:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Padres vs. Rockies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Colorado rocked the Padres 7-4 Tuesday. The Padres got out to a 4-1 lead in the 3rd and didn’t score again. OF Jackson Merrill went 2 for 3 Tuesday, and his .467 batting average (21 for 45) is the highest road mark in baseball. The Padres are tied for 9th with 4.8 R/game and are 10th with a 3.85 ERA. They are 7-5 on the road thus far.

2B Brendan Rodgers ‘ lone hit was the difference Tuesday as it went for a grand slam. The Rockies have just 6 wins on the year, and 4 of them have come at home. Their 6-18 start has tied their worst start in their 32 years as a franchise.

Padres at Rockies projected starters

Waldron (0-2, 4.74 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 1.53 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 over 19 innings.

The Rockies have yet to announce a starter for Wednesday.

Padres at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

Moneyline

The Padres should rebound here as the Rockies could wind up going with a bullpen game. However, dropping -160 on a .500 team with an unknown on the hill isn’t a good use of funds.

Instead, let’s go with MATT WALDRON OVER 3.5 K’S ( -135 ). He has 4+ K’s in 3 of 4 starts, and the Rockies are the 5th-easiest to whiff in baseball.

We’re projecting a multi-run win for San Diego here, but I don’t like betting -110 on it. Let’s stick with Waldron and take MATT WALDRON UNDER 16.5 OUTS ( -135 ). He has never pitched in Coors Field. He relies on a 91-mph 4-seamer, a knuckleball, sinker, sweeper and cutter. That’s not the repertoire that you can control in the altitude. He also hasn’t pitched 5 2/3 in any of his starts this season.

Over/Under

This one can go either way, but I have trouble betting an Over 11 when Colorado is tied for 24th at 3.7 R/game. The first game of this series went Under, and Tuesday’s game would have pushed.

LEAN UNDER 11 ( -105 ).
