TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The big weather story this weekend is the warm temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s however there also remains a chance for showers/storms both days. There will be a lot of dry time though so you don’t necessarily need to cancel any outdoor plans but be extra aware of the risk especially Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. The biggest reason we have to take this weather pattern on a day by day basis is because each round of storms could have an impact on how the atmosphere recovers for the next round. Not only how strong or severe the storms may be but also the location of where the storms will develop. Even the chances for storms this weekend remains uncertain with some of the models indicating minimal rain in the area while other models have the potential for 1-2” of rain in spots. Today: Mostly Sunny. (More clouds if there are more showers/storms in the area). Slight chance of showers/storms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s-low 90s. Winds SE 5-10 mph. Tonight: Scattered showers/storms. Lows in the mid-upper 60s. Winds SE/S around 5 mph. Tomorrow: Few showers/storms mainly in the afternoon although a few showers may still linger into the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. Winds S/SE 5-10 mph. A few more showers/storms are likely to begin the work week, again a lot of dry time during the day but also a weather pattern we’ll have to monitor as we get to each day. After the last possible round of storms move through Tuesday night, most of Wednesday will be dry with the dry and hot weather moving in Thursday through the weekend.
