The cute, colorful marshmallow treats won't be back until Easter.
Forget Halloween cupcakes adorned with adorable fluffy ghosts or holiday gingerbread houses decorated with marshmallowy snowmen. Add PEEPS to the list of things that 2020 has stolen from us.
Just Born Quality Confections, the company that makes PEEPS, announced that its seasonal varieties will not be in stores again until 2021. The sugar-coated marshmallow treats typically come in five seasonal varieties: Easter chicks and bunnies; brightly colored summer chicks; spooky Halloween ghosts and pumpkins; festive Christmas trees, snowmen, and gingerbread men; and sweet Valentine's Day hearts.

Just Born suspended production of all of its candy brands at its Bethlehem and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, facilities earlier this year to ensure the health and safety of its associates during the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed limited production in May after making extensive changes to its plant to increase safety.
"This situation resulted in us having to make the difficult decision to forego production of our seasonal candies for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day in order to focus on meeting the expected overwhelming demand for PEEPS for next Easter season, as well as our everyday candies," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to offering our fun seasonal shapes and packaging at all major seasons again beginning with Halloween of 2021."

The company said it will also forego the production of its Halloween Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales varieties this year.
The PEEPS brand is Just Born's most widely known candy brand, particularly for its PEEPS Chick and PEEPS Bunny products that are a favorite Easter treat. The company said PEEPS, which have been in production for 65 years, are the No. 1, non-chocolate Easter treat.
