Schneider Electric will hold a groundbreaking event Tuesday morning for a major expansion project in Columbia. The ceremony will be in front of the Schneider Electric building at 4800 Paris Rd. from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This expansion project comes after an investment of more than $700 million to support the "fast-growing energy and AI sectors," according to a press release. This is the first major milestone for the company's growth in AI sectors and energy since the investment was announced earlier this year. The release states the expansion will create more than 200 new jobs. Once the project is completed, the expansion will strengthen Missouri as a hub for advanced manufacturing. Governor Mike Kehoe, Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and the Senior Vice President of Schneider Electric, Michael Quinn, are set to be speakers at the event.
