PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a chilly start to the weekend on this Friday under mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 50s for Phoenix! The daytime average high for this time of the year is 78 degrees, so we are about 20 degrees below normal.

With rain amounts on Thursday anywhere from .10” to over a half inch of rain in the East Valley, Phoenix Sky Harbor checked in officially with 0.16”. For the month, we now have .74” of rain and .77” for the year. This recent moisture is certainly welcomed, but we are still 1.40” below normal as our dry winter/spring continues.

But we do have a chance of more rain late Friday night and into Saturday morning as some wrap-around moisture is set to move through the Valley. Despite a few light, scattered showers in the late afternoon/early evening, our best chance at measurable rain looks to be from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Totals would be from 0.10”-0.25”, but scattered heavy downpours cannot be ruled out in isolated elevated areas of the Valley.

More snow for northern and eastern Arizona is expected later Friday night as a winter weather advisory is in effect now until 5 a.m. Saturday (8 a.m. for the White Moutanins) for a wide swath of northern and eastern Arizona. Flagstaff could pick up another 4”-6”, with 1”-2” forecast for Prescott and 2”-3” possible for Payson as the temperatures drop. Show Low could see another 2”-3” of snow. 6”-8” are possible for Pine and Strawberry Friday night, with 1”-2” for the upper elevation areas of Heber-Overgaard.

We should see this precipitation for the Valley gone by sunrise, with snow winding down in the eastern half of the state by mid-morning. Saturday looks partly cloudy with a high near 70 degrees and it will be mostly sunny and 75 for Sunday. St. Patrick’s Day looks very lucky and warm with a high of 81 degrees. Tuesday looks breezy and cooler with some possible snow in the High Country.
