Seniors can now get a lifetime National Parks pass for just $10. While this is only for a limited time, it's a great initiative for all generations to get out and enjoy the glory of our country.

From sea to shining sea our National Parks are more than just tourist attractions, they are treasures handed down for generations. For a limited time, older generations can now get a lifetime National Parks pass for only $10 – But you must hurry because prices will go up soon.

If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident 62 years of age or older, this special pass gets you free admission to 2,000 federal recreation sites, including all of the National Parks FOR LIFE!

You heard that right. For Life!

This is a great initiative to get people to purchase parks passes. While they are extremely beautiful, National Parks require a lot of upkeep, which can add up in costs. Currently, the park system needs roughly $12 billion worth of repairs.

To help alleviate the hefty upkeep costs, major changes are on the horizon for our parks. In late 2016 the National Park Service Centennial Act was signed into law to assist the park system with their backlogged maintenance needs, among many other aspects.

If you don't jump on the $10 lifetime deal now, the price will jump to $80. Officials have not yet set a date for the price increase, but getting your $10 lifetime National Parks pass would be best sooner rather than later!

You can get your lifetime pass by visiting any National Park or any federal recreational area. You can also register and order one via mail, but you'll have to pay an additional $10 processing fee.

The park service informally let the public know about the $80 price increase late last year when the law took effect.

We don't want anyone to feel blindsided and say, 'Why didn't anyone tell us about this'... We don't know whether we'll get any pushback. [The higher fee] is still a great deal." Kathy Kupper, a Park Service spokeswoman told AARP.

It's important to remember that 100 percent of the proceeds from the passes are used to improve the parks and enhance visitor recreation services. This would be a great gift idea for anyone interested in travel, or interested in helping our National Parks stay beautiful and stay funded!
