SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - With the school year coming to a close, the signing days are winding down. But Wednesday was a big day for some signings at several different schools in the area. Over at Jenkins, it was two football players who made their college commitments official. Wide receiver Ke’Tayrion Haynes is headed to Kansas to play for the Dodge City Conquistadors, where he’ll be joining a few other Warrior teammates. Meanwhile, Jayuan Albert will be a running back in the SIAC at Allen University and is excited to go be a playmaker for the Yellow Jackets. “It means a lot to me because ever since Little League, middle school, high school, and now I’m able to play college -- it means a lot to me,” said Albert. “When I went to the college, they said I’ll have a big role to play come August, and I’m ready.” “It doesn’t feel real really, but I’m thankful,” said Haynes. “I give all the glory to God and my parents and the Jenkins family for supporting me each and every step of the way.” Just a few minutes down the road, four Cadets put pen to paper at Benedictine, and two of them will be attending Georgia Military College -- Michael Hogan for football and Colin Halligan for golf. Connor Desautels will be joining Gannon University’s wrestling team, and Walker Groves will be playing lacrosse at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. “Coach White having our schedule play Atlanta teams and everything else and traveling around -- I played travel ball as well in the summer -- but I’m really excited to go see that next level,” said Groves. “I’m excited,” said Desautels. “I’m really proud of myself. A long time ago I told myself I was going to wrestle in college, but it’s easy to fall short of those dreams. If it weren’t for all the coaches that I’ve had from second grade until now, I wouldn’t have been able to make it this far.” And finally, two student-athletes made things official at Richmond Hill today. Jack Hendricks is headed up to north Georgia to swim at Berry College, while Eli Howard is continuing his baseball career with the Panthers at LaGrange College.
