WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A weak cold front moved across Kansas last night and today will be noticeably cooler than Wednesday. However, high temperatures in the lower to middle 80s keep us five to ten degrees above average for middle May. Friday promises to be a carbon copy of today before weather changes arrive this weekend. Morning temperatures in the 50s will climb into the 80s during the afternoon underneath mainly sunny skies. A stronger storm system is scheduled to arrive this weekend, and with it comes better chances of showers and storms. Isolated, relatively weak storms on Saturday night will be followed by better chances of storms and severe weather Sunday afternoon and evening. Additional strong to severe storms are likely on Monday. Looking ahead… in the wake of the storms will be a cooler and quiet weather pattern the remainder of next week. Highs generally in the (near normal) middle to upper 70s will be accompanied by quiet skies and relatively light winds. Sat: Low: 54. High: 84. Increasing clouds; isolated overnight storms.
