WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It is a mostly cloudy and muggy Monday morning across Kansas with wake-up temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Later today as skies turn mostly sunny highs will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s, or a few degrees above average for middle June.

A batch of showers and storms will move into northern Kansas (from southern Nebraska) after 6 p.m. While a few storms may be strong with large hail, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall, widespread severe weather is not expected. These storms will arrive in south central Kansas after 5 a.m.

A cold front sweeping across Kansas on Tuesday will bring another batch of showers and storms to the state, and some will be severe producing large hail, damaging wind, and areas of heavy rainfall. Highs on Tuesday in the lower to middle 90s will be replaced by afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s on Wednesday.

Looking ahead… the infamous heat dome is headed our way later this week and it will park itself on top of Kansas for a week or longer. With abundant sunshine and little, if any rain, temperatures will climb into the 90s and 100s on Thursday/Friday and remain there through the weekend.
