NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The blast of cold air is arriving into Middle Tennessee, and will bring our coldest temperatures of the fall season! Prepare for strong wind gusts, feels like temperatures in the 30s and 20s and very dry air! The big blast of bitter cold arrives during the day Thursday from our last cold front. Morning temperatures start in the lower 40s and 30s, but the added wind will make it feel like the low 30s/upper 20s. Clouds will increase more on Thursday in parts of our area, but the temperatures remain in the 40s (feeling like the 30s with wind gusts to 30-40 mph at times). Now, late Thursday night into Friday morning, snow showers are likely across the very far eastern areas of the Cumberland Plateau. Due to the timing, a quick coating to one inch of snow is not out of the question. Friday clouds hang tight with highs in the 30s to lower/middle 40s. Friday through Sunday morning will be very cold for our area with the wind continuing to make it feel colder. By Saturday afternoon into Sunday, the wind does relax a tad, and also will change directions to the south/southwest. By Sunday afternoon, milder temperatures return. Friday night into Saturday morning will bring temperatures to or below freezing for many areas. Look for lows to start in the 20s and 30s. The forecast data below is from the European forecast model. Widespread frost and even a freeze is possible for most so cover your plants and don’t forget about your pets. Sunday morning will also feature frost for a lot of spots. Nashville International Airport may stay just above freezing this weekend. If we do not hit 32°, we will likely break the latest freeze on record of November 27, 2009.
