WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Part of N. Stratford Road in Winston-Salem is closed because of a sinkhole that has formed in the middle of the road, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

N. Stratford Road is closed to thru traffic from Virginia Road to Buena Vista Road for "an undetermined amount of time." Drivers can detour around the Closure by using Virginia Road, Oaklawn Avenue and Buena Vista Road.

Pedestrians in the area should use caution, as officials say the hole is "big enough to fall into."
